Mission Statement
Business as a
Force for Good
At Brunnur Distillery, we are driven by the belief that business must be a force for good. We commit to a Stakeholder Governance model, ensuring our operations benefit not just shareholders, but also our workers, community, and the environment—prioritizing nature conservation and gender equality. As proud ambassadors of Icelandic culture, we approach the production and marketing of our spirits with the utmost responsibility, actively fostering a culture of moderation among consumers.
Our framework is built on the principle of the Triple Bottom Line, ensuring we manage our impact across People, Planet, and Profit, with a commitment to B Corp standards of transparency and accountability across all pillars.
Our framework is grounded in the Triple Bottom Line, guiding how we manage our impact across People, Planet, and Profit, with a clear commitment to B Corp standards of transparency and accountability.
People First
At Himbrimi, our People pillar centers on fostering well-being, equity, and meaningful community impact across all who engage with our brand. We take seriously our responsibility as spirit producers, intentionally marketing our products—especially our Old Tom Gin—to encourage mindful, moderate enjoyment. Within our workforce, we are committed to breaking down systemic barriers in the Icelandic labor market by promoting equitable opportunities; by 2027, we aim for 5% of all new hires to come from underrepresented groups, building on our immigrant-majority ownership and employee stock option initiatives. Beyond our company walls, we proudly support the LGBTQ+ community worldwide to help create inclusive, safe spaces for all.
Planet in Mind
Our Planet pillar reflects our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint through data-driven action, ethical sourcing, and circular operations. We expect to have a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment of our flagship Himbrimi product by 2030 to identify and reduce the most carbon-intensive stages of our production. Across our supply chain, we are implementing a formal vetting process—including a mandatory Supplier Questionnaire—to ensure that by 2027, at least 90% of our total spend meets ethical and environmental standards. Operationally, we have already improved efficiency by shifting bottling to Europe, eliminating unnecessary transport emissions, and we are advancing circularity by exploring high-value uses for our organic juniper pomace—donating it to local restaurants and evaluating its potential in cosmetic applications to ensure zero organic waste.
Profit with Purpose
Our Profit pillar reflects a governance philosophy rooted in transparency, accountability, and shared value. Guided by B Corp principles, we prioritize the interests of all stakeholders. To ensure our success translates into environmental impact, we have initiated certain mandates over the years such as – 5% of net profits coming from the sale of Himbrimi Winterbird being donated to Nature Conservation Iceland. We are committed to full transparency and will publicly report on our financial milestones and subsequent contributions as they arise.
